Study of me is one of my long-term projects. In Study of Me I am using mapping, archiving and contemplating personal and collective history as a basis of my artistic research.
I intend to vivisect myself - in a manner of speech, and the historic, ideological and cultural legacy of the society and country in Eastern Europe I grew up in.
I have started close to my own childhood memories, with one of my favorite toys, a common children's toy in former Yugoslavia: the Little Red Riding Hood. Folktale about a young girl's
encounter with a wolf is an actual and a symbolic starting point of this project. Little Red Riding Hood is a toy,
which has been given to me by my father and mother when I was just a baby. My Little Red Riding Hood has been with me all my life, as a silent witness who has survived my childhood, adolescence, wars...
In Study of Me I research Me as an individual and "the other me":The Collective Me. The Collective Me as in: collective and individual memories, documents and narratives,
cultural and political phenomena, (urban)
legends, mass media imagery (...), and idioms of a socialistic society in formal Yugoslavia.
In its current form Study of Me consists of drawings, paintings, photographs, stories, archived documents, interviews, essays and videos - the heterogenic list expectedly grows as the project progresses.
